What's Your Favorite Salvage Find?

Favorite Salvage Finds
We all have them... or at least, I hope we do... our very favorite salvage finds!
There's usually a story behind them...
where they were found...
either by the side of the road (considered SORs by salvagers at heart), while on vacaction, passed down from Great Aunt Bessie or in your favorite Salvage Shop like Black Dog
or perhaps they were a great steal...
like my favorite chair below - found here in our Marketplace from our vendor Benchmark Custom Upholstery

I saw a similar chair online for $1895 (the Bergham His Chair) and grabbed this one for under $200... which immediately made me feel triumphant for paying WAY less... at least that was the rationale i used when trying to convince my husband that we HAD to have it & couldn't pass it up!
(lesson: there are some GREAT deals here @ Black Dog Salvage)
here it is resting peacefully at home :)

maybe it was a diamond in the rough, and with your help brought back to life...
like my very favorite salvage find (i have a few) below... a great perk of working for a salvage company is that we get 1st dibs on what comes in...
this store counter came to us painted green, with a nice coating of dust and missing a top...
our skilled craftsmen (another perk here) added a new top made from reclaimed pine flooring
the original thought was to paint the counter brown - while doing so, we learned a valuable lesson about applying latex paint over oil based paint (on a sunny porch w/ a poor priming job) - while the paint started to bubble and come apart, we noticed the beautiful oak underneath... and the original nickle hardware...
so back to the shop it went... where it was stripped, sanded & stained... and will now be a part of our family for years to come...

our chocolate lab, Tarka, wanted to be included, too :)
