Top Gift Recommendations for Graduates | Black Dog Salvage Style

Congratulations to Koiner's daughter, Alden, who graduated this weekend and joined the Black Dog Hokie Alumnus; Uncle Robert, Uncle Ralph, Susie and me (Christa).
In honor of all graduates, we thought we'd post our top gift recommendations... Black Dog Style!

Perfect for a beach week, strolling neighborhood farmers markets or quick overnight trips... Medina Baskets.

Knobstoppers make a fun gift for the wine lover or food connoisseur.

Beverage tubs, from Whiteside Designs, for all those graduation parties and Rug bags from Dash & Albert with plenty of room to store a laptop, iPad or any other gadgets.

Serving platters and ice buckets, perfect for entertaining.

This dragonfly dish would make a sweet gift. When I googled the symbolism of the dragonfly, here's what came up... if it's on Wikipedia it must be true, right? Can't think of a more fitting symbol for graduation, congrats to all the grads!

The meaning of a dragonfly changes with each culture. The main symbolisms of the dragonfly are renewal, positive force and the power of life in general. Dragonflies can also be a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. Also, as a creature of the wind, the dragonfly frequently represents change. And as a dragonfly lives a short life, it knows it must live its life to the fullest with the short time it has - which is a lesson for all of us.

2010 Downtown Living Tour | Roanoke, VA

If you're in town this weekend and are in need of some design inspiration, be sure to check out Roanoke's Downtown Living Tour! Click HERE for the article in today's paper. One of the properties featured on the tour is the Davidsons loft, pictured above. We were honored to help the Davidsons incorporate their original storefront doors with this stunning table. The table base was fabricated using antique wrought iron salvage from Egypt and reclaimed wood. An excellent example of reclaiming, renewing and redefining architectural salvage!

Here are a few closeups of the table before it was delivered.

Thank you Janice & Larry for the opportunity to showcase your incredible doors!
