Speaking of Floyd... meet our new foster puppy!

In honor of FloydFest, we've named our new foster puppy... you guessed it, Floyd!

This sweet boy was left at Animal Control with his litter mates. They are now all in foster care through the Roanoke Valley SPCA and will be available for adoption in two weeks.

While we don't have any history on Floyd, we can already tell he'd make a great companion!

Stop by the shop to meet him in person!

Black Dog Salvage's interview with WDBJ7's Bob Grebe!

Bob Grebe, from WDBJ7, stopped by this morning to interview Robert
about our doghouse for the
BARKitecture competition this weekend.

here are a couple of quick shots of them setting up

He also interviewed Building Specialists,
who designed a newer version of a 'green' doghouse -
which is very cool, as well.

BARKitecture competition THIS WEEKEND 9/26 & 9/27

If you're in town this weekend,
check out the BARKitecture competition
at the Salem Civic Center.
There will be 15 dog houses competing for 'Best in Show'
and a silent auction where you can bid on the houses.
All proceeds go to the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
Here's a description of our entry:
With a bark to the past, this canine retreat was created using a variety of reclaimed architectural elements.
Framed with 100 year old reclaimed oak barn siding and vintage moulding, the roof was created using antique slate roofing tiles and corrugated galvanized tin, topped with a whimsical weathervane. The front porch, made for lazy afternoons, is a collaboration of antiques including; baluster porch posts, corbels, star sidewalk bricks, wrought iron fencing, complete with a recycled bicycle chain and charming vintage light (it works!). Pups enter through the fireplace surround door to a sunroom created with salvaged windows, antique ceiling tin, vintage street signs and reclaimed heart pine flooring. A two-way swinging screen door leads outside, where vintage Virginia license plates adorn the back of this "Dogtrot' style home.
*** many thanks to Kevin Hurley & assistant Jeff for the photoshoot today!
we'll post more photos next week

pictures of Sally from our PET (Pets Eat Too)
Food Drive, mentioned in these earlier posts.
