A look inside one half of Devereaux House

Thought it might be fun to go behind the scenes of one of our favorite vendors.
As you may know, we have a growing Marketplace here at Black Dog, featuring a select group of merchants.
Devereaux House was started by two sisters,
Lisa and Helen, who share a love for antiques and collecting.
They were both nice enough to give us a little tour of their homes,
I can't wait to visit them in person!
First up... here's Lisa's home, which she designed and built with her husband.

Lisa found the incredible doors right here @ Black Dog.
For Roanoke locals... you may recognize the match to these
at Fork in the Alley.

The inspiration for their dream house came from the cover of A House on the Water.

Antique Old World Wrought Iron - updates to our Ebay Store!

Thought I'd share some outtakes from our recent
iron photo shoot... it's always tricky shooting in bright sun but we made it work.
I love these reflections!

We are in the process of reorganizing our back yard and will
be adding new iron listings to our Ebay Store weekly.

It's no small feat to literally move, tag and document
tons of iron... but we hope it will help folks find the perfect
gate, railing or decorative panel!
Check our Ebay store for updates or if you're in search of particular size,
please send us measurements and we'll search the yard for you.

Lessons from Man's Best Friend

Stephen Huneck

We are deeply saddened to learn that artist Stephen Huneck has passed away.
A customer introduced us to his books and artwork many years ago, since we both have lovable black labs named Sally.

Since then, we've enjoyed offering his 'Sally' books here @ the shop, as well as his rugs - the most memorable being the 'Greetings' Rug!

I enjoyed a visit to his Dog Chapel in Vermont a few summers ago with my chocolate lab, Tarka. It's a beautiful spot which I hope remains in his honor. His family and friends are in our thoughts.
